Resettlement of Afghans in Canada: Senators Urge Action
On June 2, 2022 Senators Salma Ataullahjan, Marty Deacon, Mobina Jaffer, Marilou McPhedran, and Ratna Omidvar held a press conference to draw attention to problems with the processing of applications from Afghans seeking to resettle in Canada. They were joined by Naheed Farid, a former member of the Afghanistan parliament. The Canadian government has committed to resettling at least 40,000 refugees and vulnerable Afghans.
